By News Desk
September 23, 2016

It was a rainy Monday morning when the alarm came in at 7:46. The report of a truck into the quarry heightened everyone's attention. It doesn't matter how hot or cold, what the weather is doing, or what else is happening. To an Emergency Responder, it means it's time to go, to help someone in need. With the arrival of the East Whiteland Township Police Department, the East Whiteland Fire Company, and township Fire Marshals, it was evident that additional assistance was needed. Remaining calm and clear, the request for additional support was made. Rescue and specialized teams responded from all over Chester County. Fire engines, rescue trucks, special response vehicles with trailers, heavy tow trucks, command vehicles, and even rescue responders arriving in their own private vehicles because they wanted to help. Operating in very difficult circumstances, every responder had a job to do. Rescue personnel descended on ropes to reach the operator of the machine, then bringing the operator back up in a special rescue basket to the top where an ambulance and medics were waiting. It was a display of professionalism and a passion to help someone in need. We have received a tremendous amount of messages and comments from all over the country, and we are very grateful to all those who responded to help on Monday...East Whiteland Fire Company, East Whiteland Township Fire Marshals, East Whiteland Township Police Department, Malvern Fire Company and Medic Units, Berwyn Fire Company and Medic 2, Chester County Rescue Task Force, West Chester Fame Fire Company Special Rescue and Collapse Units, Lionville Fire Company Rescue, Downingtown Fire Department Rescue, Abel Brothers Towing Heavy 50 & 60 Ton Recovery, Thorndale Fire Company, Phoenixville Fire Department, Longwood Fire Company, Valley Forge Fire Company, Wagontown Fire Company.
